Elite Connections hosted its 15th annual fundraiser this past November, Party with a Purpose, at a private estate in Calabasas. The estimated 200 guests who attended the black tie affair generously donated bags of clothes and gifts for Los Angeles’ needy children. The evening was a huge success and people came from as far as New York. The guests enjoyed fabulous food, live music by Soul Infusion, dancing until 1:00am, a silent auction and left with one of Elite Connections’ VIP gift bags.
Elite Connections, touted as one of the leading matchmaking firms for the past 20 years, has also built a reputation for Christmas spirit. Murphy and her daughter, Tamara Pickle, hosted their first fundraiser 15 years ago benefiting needy children in Los Angeles.
When Murphy first began Party with a Purpose, proceeds were used to host 2 different parties for 100 less fortunate children during the holiday season. She then expanded her efforts to helping the entire orphanage at McLaren’s Children’s Center and Florence Critteten before they closed due to state budget cuts. She discovered that many of those children ended up on the streets, and she shifted from helping facilities like Vista Del Mar and the Children’s Institute to devoting her efforts to helping the children no one is helping, the forgotten children of the streets.
“Our goal each year is to give every child that comes to our parties the best Christmas they have ever had,” Murphy said. “Last year we gave the children new clothes, shoes, back packs, and much more. Children were also given cell phones with unlimited worldwide service, music and cameras.”
