Orangetheory Fitness, the fast-growing national fitness craze, recently opened its doors on 2nd Street in Santa Monica with a grand opening party.
Hailed by The New York Times as “the best one-hour workout in the country” and featured in Men’s Health’s “Best 2015 Gyms,” Orangetheory offers total body, heart-rate monitored workouts that have helped tens of thousands of members lose weight, get toned and meet fitness goals in a short amount of time.

The new studio was handpicked by the city of Santa Monica to be the anchor tenant for the new retail stores located on the first floor of Parking Structure 6. Owned and operated by franchisee Jim Cahlin and managed by his partner Michelle Kelly, Orangetheory will bring its tight-knit network of members and Orangetheory Fitness certified coaches to Santa Monica’s fitness scene. Cahlin also has plans to open an Orangetheory Fitness studio in Manhattan Beach by the end of the year.
“We were members of the first Orangetheory Fitness studio in Fort Lauderdale and witnessed the results on ourselves and others firsthand and believed in the value to its members,” said Cahlin. “We were first in line when we learned that Orangetheory was expanding into California, and my first choice for location was Santa Monica, not only because of its beach city vibe but because it is a fitness-focused city. I’m extremely passionate about fitness and changing people’s lives and look forward to bringing this program to the community.”
Memberships are month-to-month with no startup cost or upfront fees. Orangetheory has locations nationwide that are accessible at no additional charge. Members can also take advantage of free 90-minute parking in the parking structure above the studio.
