Russia reportedly destroyed a large power plant in Kherson

Ukrainian national operator Ukrenergo said on Monday that Russia destroyed a key power station in Kherson before its troops withdrew from the city and the right bank of the Dnieper River in southern Ukraine.

Kherson was the first major city and the only regional center to fall after the Russian invasion launched at the end of February.

The forceful withdrawal of troops from Moscow came under pressure from a Ukrainian counteroffensive, a disappointment for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the mobilization of 300,000 reservists in September.

In recent weeks, the Russian military has carried out several waves of massive missile and suicide drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
