Cheryl Burke She hangs up her boogie shoes on “Dancing With the Stars” — and while she would love to sit at the judge’s table…it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, at least for now.
The longtime professional dancer and DWTS host — who was a frequent contestant for 26 seasons, winning twice — announced Sunday that she will no longer be competing on the reality competition show, saying it’s time to retire and move to new heights.

In a lengthy post on IG, Cheryl explained that Monday night’s final episode will be her last dance performance on “Dancing,” and added a heartfelt thank you to the production as a whole.
She writes, “This show has been my second family since I was 21. The cast, crew, and fans have watched me through my highs and my lows, and I honestly don’t know who I would be today without them. I also know it’s time to start the next phase of my life.” My career, though, is that dance will always be a part of me.”

CB adds: “I’m excited by the idea of evolving, being challenged in new ways, having the ability to expand my commitment to mental health advocacy, focusing on my newfound love of podcasting, and ready to face the uncertainty (although scary as sh**) of what the future holds — I have a few things up my sleeves, so don’t worry.”
The official DWTS Twitter page wished her well amidst the news and called her an icon. That’s cute, but Cheryl has been brutally honest about why she came out in her follow-up interviews.
Cheryl said diverse that she actually wanted the judge’s empty chair to be vacated by a mainstay Lynn Goodman — who also announced his retirement last week. She says she’s been talking about this for years, and seems to have voiced it to upper management… to no avail, it seems. Instead, it looks like ABC and co. They let her go.
She also notes that she is now getting older at the age of 38 and that she cannot dance this high forever. If this is, in fact, the end for her… it’s been a remarkable career. Good luck and God bless you!
