Anthony Lonsdale, 21, posed as a 14-year-old boy in uniform to infiltrate the same school as the victim in Nottinghamshire, England.

The pedophile engages in the use of pseudonyms, including creating fake profiles on Snapchat, Instagram and WhatsApp, posing as a teenage girl named “Thea”.

Posing as ‘Thea’, he chatted with the girl and encouraged her to add a second fake profile he had created, a 12-year-old brother called ‘Sam’.

Over the course of several weeks, “Sam” sent her increasingly intimate messages before sending her sexually explicit photos.

Lonsdale was arrested when he tried to force his way into a school in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, dressed as a pupil, in an attempt to meet the young victim.

Police were alerted and identified two other Nottinghamshire girls Lonsdale had contacted using false names including ‘Toni’, ‘Thea’, ‘Emily’ and ‘Sam’.

The man sent messages from different accounts, sent indecent images and asked for photos in return.

He met one of the teenage girls in a McDonald’s restaurant under the guise of a concerned friend and then tried to contact her younger sister, the court heard.

The girl blocked contact with Lonsdale, but he contacted her from another fake account and claimed her actions had caused her to attempt suicide.

Lonsdale was arrested in March 2022 and released on bail, but he continued to assault teenage girls and send nude photos of himself.

He went to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, dressed as a teenager to meet a 14-year-old girl in a park.

He convinced her and her mother to let him spend the night saying he had no money to go home, the court heard.

Lonsdale, of Wembley, north-west London, was accused of eight counts of ‘grooming’ (a manipulative technique that involves gaining a child’s trust to engage in sexual activity) and possessing sexually explicit images of children.

He was jailed for seven years last Thursday, with three years suspended at Nottingham Crown Court.

A restraining order has been put in place to prevent the victims from contacting Lonsdale.
