Two Valheim builders spent more than a thousand hours over three months to create a full-fledged survival RPG.

YouTubers Ninebyte and Dhakhar have joined forces to undertake a very ambitious project of creating a full-fledged game within the game. In this case, both creators had the idea of creating unique stories, bosses, and more using beloved Valheim tools covered in ledges.

“We spent the first week of build just bringing in and tweaking designs off the edge of the world, creating the final build graveyard to work from for the rest of the project,” the creators explain in a recent video, embedded above. The duo then created five main cities that would “ultimately tie everything together with story and lore.”

From there, the team filled in the gaps with points of interest, connecting routes, and several boss arenas that will soon feature “intense” battles with custom enemies. There are also 12 classes available – including classics like Berserker, Sorcerer, and Shaman – inspired by Legends mode.

After everything was initially laid out, the team worked on paving roads, improving the code, populating towns with mysterious NPCs that offered quests, and creating lore to tie the whole package together. They've also “reviewed all of the vanilla loot items in the game and placed them” across the map as quest rewards and such. So, everything you'd expect from a normal RPG.

If you want to try out what the duo has created, beta 1.0 is available for free now on the duo's website Sedition Server.

Valheim's developer recently urged modders to “make their mods freely available to anyone who wants to play them.”
