A woman was found dead inside the stomach of a snake after it swallowed her whole in central Indonesia, a local official said today, Saturday. She is at least the fifth person to be devoured by a snake in the country since 2017.
On Friday, Farida, 45, a resident of Kalembang village in South Sulawesi province, was discovered inside a reticulated python about five meters (16 feet) long.
The village head, Suardi Rossi, told AFP that the mother of four went missing on Thursday evening and did not return to her home, prompting efforts to search for her.
Suardi said her husband “found her belongings… which aroused his suspicions. The villagers then searched the area. They quickly found a snake with a large belly.”
He added: “They agreed to cut open the snake’s stomach. As soon as they did that, Farida’s head immediately appeared.”
Farida was found fully clothed inside the snake.
