Female vet tried to kill husband by poisoning him

A Wisconsin woman has spent more than a decade behind bars after admitting she tried to poison her veterinarian husband with a drug used to euthanize animals.

This was reported by “Fox News”.

Amanda Alicia Chapin, 51, pleaded guilty Friday to a charge of reckless endangerment for stealing animal medication from her husband’s property.

Beginning in March 2022, her husband, Gary Chapin, quickly convinced his new wife to include her in the deed of his residence.

Two weeks later, Amanda Alicia Chapin put her plan into action. In August, she added barbiturates to her victim’s coffee. After the third dose of poison, she waited three hours before calling 911.

Doctors quickly discovered the product. Gary Chapin came out of his coma four days later. She filed for divorce and obtained a separation order against him and her son.

She loves him “a lot”.

The accused later defied the court order. Almost a month after the crime, Amanda sent Alicia Chapin an email in which she threatened to take her own life.

“The only thing I’m guilty of is loving you too much,” he wrote.

He was initially charged with attempted murder in the case, but the charges were reduced to first-degree reckless endangerment on Friday after pleading guilty.

Amanda Alicia Chapin will receive her sentencing on July 15. She risks spending more than 12 years behind bars.
