The family of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims has slammed “sick” Ariana Grande for once saying the prolific killer was her dream dinner guest.
appearing on Podcrushed Podcast. Earlier this month, the “We Can’t Be Friends” hitmaker, 31, recalled telling a group of children during a Q&A session that she was interested in sitting down with Dahmer — who killed and dismembered 17 men between 1978 and 1991.
The startling discovery has shocked the loved ones of Tony Hughes, who was last seen in 1991.
“To me, it seems like she’s sick in her mind. It’s not fancy or funny to say you would have liked to have dinner with him,” Hughes’ mother, Shirley, said. He told TMZ. “It’s also not something you should say to young people, which is what she says she did.”
Tony, who was deaf and could not speak, was picked up by Dahmer at a gay bar in Milwaukee.
Dahmer took him home, drugged him, dismembered his body and kept his skull, according to The Verge. News agency.
Hughes told the outlet that she hopes the “Thank U, Next” singer understands how insensitive her comments were, and said it was upsetting that Grande laughed at the confession.
Elsewhere, Hughes’ sister Barbara said Grande’s comments appeared to glorify the killer, who died in prison in 1994.
He urged the two-time Grammy Award-winning duo to apologise.
The Post has reached out to Grande’s reps for comment.
Grande made the surprising revelation to hosts Penn Badgley, Sophie Ansari, and Nava Coughlin on the podcast’s June 17 episode.
“I was fascinated by serial killers when I was younger,” Grande said on the podcast. “It was between me and being a cat [on ‘Sam & Cat’] And pop music, so it was like a younger group, and they were with their parents, and one of them said, “If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?”
“I was like, ‘Oh, you’re so cute,'” she continued, adding that she asked her parents if she was allowed to give her honest answer. “They were like, ‘Sure, what’s the answer?’ And I was like, ‘I mean, Jeffrey Dahmer is so cool.’”
During her appearance on the podcast, Grande admitted that Dahmer was still someone she would love to have dinner with.
“I think I would have loved to meet with him, maybe with a third party or someone involved, but I have questions,” she said.
