His decision to stay with the Lakers came as little surprise as multiple media outlets reported that James was expected to seek a new deal with the team after opting not to extend his contract through the 2024-25 season.
the Lakers pick Bronny James – LeBron James’ eldest son – in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, putting them in position to have the first father-son duo on the court in NBA history.
He turns 40 in December and will tie Vince Carter for the most seasons played in NBA history this season; the 2024-25 season will be James’ 22nd in the league. He averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists last season — the oldest active player in the league.
