Leaks about PS5 Pro announcement plans and device design

The PlayStation 5 mid-gen upgrade is set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Dealabs user billbil-kunSony, which has a long history of leaking upcoming games and hardware, says the new console will be called the PS5 Pro.

They say it will be announced “very soon” with the official announcement scheduled for the first half of September.

They also claimed to have access to the PS5 Pro packaging design, but since they can’t share copyrighted images, they instead drew a sketch of the design.

According to the image, the design of the new device will look similar to the PS5 Slim, and will remain white.

The main difference is the addition of three black lines across the middle of the console, making it different from other PS5 models.

The report also notes that the PS5 Pro appears to be slightly thicker than the PS5 Slim, but notes that the design of the front panels means it may still be compatible with the front panels of the current PS5 Slim.

The only thing that billbil-kun can’t confirm yet is whether the PS5 Pro will have a disc drive, as the image they received shows the PS5 Pro without a disc drive.

So, it’s not clear whether there will be two PS5 Pro models — one with a disc drive and one without a disc drive — or whether it will be a single digital-only edition with the option for players to purchase a disc drive separately (as is the case for the digital-only PS5 Slim).

One theory put forward by billbil-kun is that the console may ship without a disc drive in order to keep costs down.

The report also says that the PS5 Pro will come with the same standard white DualSense controller that already comes with the original and slim PS5 models.

Speculation has been rife about the PS5 Pro’s internal specs for some time, something that billbil-kun’s report doesn’t shed any new light on.

In April, YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead leaked official Sony documents detailing the hardware’s specifications, which were taken from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s developer network.

The document was verified by other sites including IGN, and then removed by Sony due to copyright infringement, adding further credibility to its authenticity.

The video notes that the PS5 Pro’s CPU will be similar to that of the standard PS5, but the new console will feature a “high CPU frequency mode” that boosts the CPU by 10% to 3.85GHz, but reduces GPU performance by about 1% as a result.

The GPU itself will have 33.5 teraflops of power versus 10.28 teraflops in the PS5, but that doesn’t mean it will be three times more powerful.

like The Edge As noted at the time, changes to AMD’s architecture mean it’s difficult to directly compare teraflops between the PS5 and PS5 Pro, and the comparison is actually closer to 10.28 versus around 17 teraflops (in fact, documents leaked by Moore’s Law is Dead suggest “rendering is about 45% faster”).
