The richest man in the world said that he did not own a home and often sleeps in the spare bedrooms of his friends.
In a recent interview with Chris Anderson from TEDElon Musk says he turned to surfing.
“I don’t have a place right now, I’m literally staying at friends’ places,” explained Musk, who has an estimated net worth of $269.5 billion. Forbes.
“If I travel to the Bay Area, where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I basically cycle between friends’ spare bedrooms,” the father of seven added.
Despite the surprising lifestyle of the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, the billionaire tech mogul has revealed the only luxury he indulges in.
When answering a question about the disparity in wealth in the United States between ordinary Americans and billionaires like him, Musk said, “Sure, it would be very difficult for me to spend billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case.”
“It’s not like my personal consumption is high,” he continued, acknowledging that his private jet was the only exception.
“If I don’t use the plane, I will have fewer hours to work,” he added.
