A man has been arrested after boarding a Delta flight using another passenger's ticket photo

A Texas man was arrested after boarding a Delta Air Lines flight in Salt Lake City on Sunday without a ticket using a photo he took of another passenger's boarding pass while he wasn't looking, according to court documents.

Wycliffe Yves Florizard, 26, faces a charge of stowing away on a ship or plane, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Utah on Monday.

Before boarding the plane at Salt Lake City International Airport, security footage showed Florizard taking pictures of several passengers' phones and boarding passes while they were not looking, then using his own phone to board the plane bound for Austin, Texas, the complaint alleges. .

Once on board, Florizard went to the restroom located at the front of the plane and spent a “considerable amount of time” there while other passengers were boarding, the complaint said.

“After boarding was completed and just before the aircraft doors were secured, Florizard exited the front lavatory, made his way to the back of the aircraft and entered the aft lavatory,” the complaint states.

When he exited the bathroom, a flight attendant noticed there were no available seats and approached Florizard to help him, according to the complaint, which noted that the plane had already backed out of the gate and started taxiing down the runway.

Florizard told the flight attendant his seat was 21F, but the crew member verified that the person who bought the ticket for that seat was actually sitting in it, the complaint said.

Once flight attendants obtained Florizard's actual name and determined he did not have a ticket or reservation, the plane returned to the gate and he was met by law enforcement, the complaint said.

Florizard told police he was in Park City, Utah, on a snowboarding trip and “needed to get home to see his family,” the document states. He said he was booked on a Southwest Airlines flight earlier Sunday, but the flight was overbooked and was rescheduled on a later flight, according to the complaint.

“Florisard admitted he made a mistake and was just trying to get home,” the complaint states.

Police told CNN he is being held at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail in a federal detention center.

CNN was unable to determine whether Fleurizard has an attorney.

Delta Air Lines spokesman Morgan Durant said the airline is cooperating with the investigation.

“Delta is cooperating with law enforcement and relevant federal agencies regarding the investigation into a non-ticketed individual being escorted from an aircraft in Salt Lake City prior to scheduled departure. We defer any additional questions to law enforcement,” Durant said in a statement.
