A new gender-swapped ninja will likely be leaked as Mortal Kombat 1 DLC

Mortal Kombat 1 just got its newest downloadable character in Ermac earlier today, but it looks like we may now know something else that may be coming to the game as well.

A future piece of DLC for MK1 will likely be leaked online, and interestingly, it's dedicated to a new gender-swapped version of the classic ninja.

Potential spoilers for future announcements for the upcoming Mortal Kombat.

Professional model and fashion designer Jiwon Ra posted an interesting post on her Instagram account today claiming to have provided the face model image for Harumi Hasashi in Mortal Kombat 1.

Furthermore, her posts suggest that she will be part of the game as a female version of Scorpion no less.

It doesn't seem as though this Scorpion character will be full of playable character, considering her post says “Choose Harumi as your Kameo” as well as using the hashtag #Kameo.

If all of this is legit, it would likely point to a new Scorpion Kamo appearing in MK1's Kombat Pack 2, which hasn't been officially revealed yet.

Going in this direction wouldn't be too surprising considering they made Janet Cage Camio in Kombat Pack 1 as an alternate timeline gender swap for Johnny Cage (who also appeared briefly in story mode).

If you really want to get technical in this case, it's best to have the Scorpion title gender-swapped from its usual bearers since Harumi is already an established character.

In the original timeline, Harumi was the wife of Hanzo Hasashi, who was killed along with the rest of the Shirai Ryu and inspired Scorpion on a path of revenge.

The Mortal Kombat 1 timeline shows her as Harumi Shirai and married to Kuai Liang Scorpion as part of Shirai Ryu and is alive as far as we know her so far.

However, for this Kameo, it looks like they will be following one of the other possible timelines introduced in MK1 where Hanzo was killed with Harumi donning the scorpion mantle.

As for how her movements and appearance will differ from Hanzo/Kuai Liang remains to be seen, but her in-game artwork suggests that she may focus more on swordplay.

It's important to take this revelation with a grain of salt, as nothing has been officially confirmed by NetherRealm Studios or Warner Bros. So far – and nothing else fully supports this other than her post.

As of press time, Jiwon Ra's post is still live on Instagram where she is actively responding to fans' comments. This also included one asking if she was allowed to talk about this yet to which she replied “I am.”

They include a fair number of photos and videos in the post as well, but none of them are really new (or in some cases part of the MK1) except perhaps a shot of the motion/face capture setup.

If Harumi Scorpion is indeed coming to MK1 as DLC in the future, the official announcement will likely come several months later.

Kombat Pack 2 probably won't be revealed until Final Kombat in June or later this summer after the first batch of DLC with Takeda concludes.
