BBC sports presenter John Hunt speaks candidly about the horrific crossbow murders of his wife and two daughters, and pays tribute to his eldest daughter’s bravery at such a difficult time.
Hunt, a horse racing commentator for the BBC and Sky News, and his daughter Amy, Issued a statement on Fridayacknowledging the tremendous support they have received from the public during such an extremely difficult situation.
The statement said the pain they have been feeling since Tuesday’s murders “cannot be described in words.”
Hunt and his daughter said they wanted to “thank people for their kind messages and the support we have received in recent days,” saying the messages “have brought us great comfort and we are very grateful for them.”
Hunt’s 61-year-old wife, Carol, and his two daughters, Louise Hunt, 25, and Hannah Hunt, 28, were killed. Kyle Clifford, 26, a mentally ill veteran who was also Louise’s ex-boyfriend, has been charged with their murders.
British authorities arrested Clifford on Wednesday after a large-scale manhunt.
“Despite the terrible evil that has swept through our lives, causing devastation on an unimaginable scale, the response has been the incredible messages of support, some of which are still waiting to be read,” the statement read.
“Amy, my eldest daughter, has been an incredible inspiration with her control and support, which I try to emulate,” she continued. “Every message felt so important, like a reassuring hug. We know people are worried about us, and we’re going to get through this.”
Police continue to investigate the murders.
The three victims were found dead inside the Hunt family’s home in Hertfordshire, south London.
Investigators said the bodies were likely tied up for several hours before being killed with a crossbow.
