“His symptoms continue to improve,” D wrote.R Kevin O’Connor had said earlier in the day that the president was great.

Mr Biden, 79, still suffers from a sore throat, cough, muscle aches and a runny nose.

The Democrat, who received a full vaccination against Covid-19, is being treated with Pfizer’s anti-Covid pill Paxlovit.

His doctor said he was “continuing to support treatment”.

This antiviral drug works by reducing the ability of the virus to replicate, thus halting the progression of the disease.

It is prescribed in the US for people at risk of developing a severe form of the disease, a category the US president falls into due to his age.

Kevin O’Connor said President Omicron may have been affected by the BA.5 subtype.

Highly infectious, this variant dominates the country, where it accounts for approximately 80% of cases.
