Fans, all fired up from watching Amazon's excellent version, are returning to the Fallout games in droves, with Fallout 4's free PS5 update looking particularly attractive. However, with the update, players who obtained the underrated Fallout 4 via PS Plus Extra are finding that they cannot download it and are instead being asked to pay for the game.
The good news is that Bethesda is aware of the issue and is working hard to fix it. In an update on Discord and later posted on TwitterA company spokesperson said: “We've seen some confusion regarding the free Fallout 4 next-gen update for PlayStation Plus Extra members. The Fallout 4 next-gen update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation game catalog. Your patience is appreciated while the teams work on it “
The bad news is that no time frame has been set, so we'll wait and see when the issue is resolved. As some may remember, there was a similar issue in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, which Sony was able to fix in a day or so. IGN contacted Bethesda to ask if there are plans to refund players who purchased the game before the statement was issued. Game Pass subscribers on Xbox and PC appear to be unaffected by this issue.
