A man bleeding from his head after a hair transplant was arrested with his wife after they refused to get off a plane in Miami.
Eugenio Hernandez boarded an American Airlines flight to Las Vegas with a bleeding forehead and bandages wrapped around his head. He said he had been cleared to fly by his doctor and had paperwork to prove it, but flight attendants asked him to leave after seeing his head bleed.
The couple refused.
He described what happened to him when he was released from prison on Tuesday night.
“I’m in a lot of pain. I’m in pain here and I’m in pain here in the head,” Hernandez said.
He said he flew from Las Vegas to Miami for a hair transplant and liposuction. But when he and his wife were on the plane back home, he said passengers told flight attendants they were concerned about his bleeding and health.
“You have to get out because someone doesn’t like what you’re wearing,” Hernandez said he was told.
Hernandez provided NBC6 with a paper from his doctor stating he was given the green light to fly and return to work without any restrictions.
The hostess told him she didn’t care, he said.
The situation escalated.
“She said either get out or I’m going to call the police. I said call the police because this is unfair. I paid for my flight ticket. I don’t have anything illegal in my bag. Everything is fine,” Hernandez said.
His wife, Eusleides Loyola, who also had plastic surgery, appeared on a TikTok livestream as thousands watched.
“You know I had a breast lift, arm liposuction… and I can’t even walk,” Loyola tells the camera in Spanish. “Call 911… We are being discriminated against and abused.”
Police were called and tried to remove the couple from the plane.
“If you don’t get off the plane, they’re going to grab you and drag you off,” an officer told Hernandez. She stood in the aisle while he remained seated.
“If they take me out of the game, they’ll hurt me,” he replies.
But things get worse.
The video shows two officers standing over Hernandez, with his arms behind his back, as he screams.
Then Loyola starts screaming.
“Look, he recently had surgery, he just had surgery!”
The phone is vibrating.
“Don’t put my phone down!” she shouts at the first officer. “He just had surgery and they’re beating him up!”
Then Loyola left the place screaming and crying: “My chest!”
The couple were arrested for refusing to comply after multiple warnings, police said.
“This could have all been avoided if they had followed orders or the officers’ request to evacuate the plane,” said Miami-Dade County Police spokesman Argemis Colomey.
“During boarding of American Airlines Flight 1858 on August 19 from Miami to Las Vegas, two passengers were disruptive to the passengers and did not follow the instructions of the crew,” American Airlines said in a statement. “Law enforcement responded and removed the passengers from the aircraft. We thank our crew for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
The couple were charged with trespassing and resisting arrest.
Loyola is expected to be released Wednesday morning.
