A pregnant woman is in stable condition after being shot by a Walgreens employee in Nashville Wednesday evening following an argument with the employee.
The employee allegedly shot and killed a client who was seven months pregnant.
She was reportedly shot eight times in the stomach and both legs, after which she needed three surgeries to survive her injuries.
The 24-year-old reportedly underwent an emergency caesarean section. The child, who was not injured by the gunshots, is also in “critical, but stable” condition.
According to a police report prepared following the incident, a 21-year-old Walgreens employee was alerted to the shift leader that two patrons were attempting to flee with several items of merchandise.
The woman and her assistant were allegedly seen putting items from the store into their personal bags.

The team leader, who followed the two women into the parking lot, was then sprayed with a mace container. Not knowing if the two women were armed, he said he didn’t want to take any chances and pointed a semi-automatic weapon in their direction.
It is said that the shoplifters escaped in their vehicle.
The employee returned to the store to call 9-1-1.
The homicide unit at the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is still investigating the shooting.
