Samsung has confirmed that One UI 6.1.1, which was launched on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, will be coming to select Galaxy devices soon with a bunch of new features.
Since launching One UI 6.0 alongside Android 14 last year, Samsung has also launched One UI 6.1, an AI-focused update that has been widely rolled out. But, as is the company’s usual pattern, there’s still another update coming alongside Android 14.
Which Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1?
Samsung has confirmed through its forums (recurring whistleblower Tarun Vats) subscriber (Screenshot to confirm, but it chose not to share the link) That all of its flagship devices launched from 2022 onwards will get One UI 6.1.1.
The list includes:
- Galaxy S22/+/Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 4
- Galaxy Z Flip 4
- Galaxy Tab S8 Series
- Galaxy S23/+/Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Tab S9 Series
- Galaxy S24/+/Ultra
Compared to the One UI 6.1 launch earlier this year, this is a larger list of devices confirmed from the start, but Samsung has expanded the update (and AI features) beyond its initial announcement. As such, we wouldn’t rule out the Galaxy S21 series or the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 just yet. It’s also possible that this list is just referring to the devices getting the new AI features, and that many other Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1 in general.
But what’s actually new in this update?
What are the new features in One UI 6.1.1?
One UI 6.1.1 has been released on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, and it’s a fairly minor update overall. There are some new AI features, a larger watermark for AI creations, and a few new features.
in jobSamsung has confirmed the new features coming in One UI 6.1.1.
First, these features include new AI capabilities. Portrait Studio can turn photos of people into cartoons and sketches, while Sketch to Image can turn a rough hand-drawn sketch into an AI-generated image, and even add it to an existing photo. Live Effect can also turn a 2D photo into a 3D one.
In the Editor, Samsung has added support for the Motion Clipper feature that can turn an animated image into a GIF when you long-press on the image, while the Cut feature can crop the image by long-pressing.
Regarding translation features, Samsung now supports overlaying translation features to text or images.
The One UI 6.1.1 update will also bring Expert RAW support to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (the first Flip to do so) and Expert RAW will include image quality improvements for brightness, noise, and more.
Some of these features are only available on select devices, but most are available across the Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip 4 series, Z Fold 5/Flip 5, Galaxy S22/S23/S24 series, Galaxy S23 FE series, and Galaxy Tab S8/S9 series.
When will One UI 6.1.1 be available?
As for when this new update will be released, there is no specific timeline yet. As we mentioned, it is available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, but we believe it may take a month or two before it starts rolling out more widely.
