So far, the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship has been more than electric, and with all sorts of stories set to unfold here at Round 8, we should be in for some more great two-wheeled action. We won’t see Garrett Marchbanks this week, as he parted ways with Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha after a tough stretch this summer. There’s a chance we won’t see Chance Hymas racing either, as the Honda HRC rider is dealing with a severe ankle sprain he suffered last week at Spring Creek. He was expected to race earlier this week, but at media day yesterday he told us he’s still in a lot of pain, and doesn’t know if he’ll be able to race. We should know more after qualifying. For a full look at who’s out with injuries, check out our injury report.

In the 250, keep an eye on Hayden Deegan. Washougal was where he probably had a great performance last summer, and he’s even better this year. He’s also winless in five races, so you know he deserves to win. Levi Kitchen is coming off a strong win at Spring Creek, and he’s literally from Washougal, so he’ll be one to watch today as well. In the 450, Chase Sexton has won the last five races and shows no signs of slowing down. He’s 13 points ahead of Hunter Lawrence, which isn’t a huge lead, but it’s big enough that if Sexton extends the lead any further, Lawrence will have a tough time catching him in the final stretch. This could be a make-or-break round for both of them.

Riders will also face an obstacle they don’t always encounter here in the Pacific Northwest, as temperatures are expected to be above normal – with highs of 95 degrees expected. Of course, riders will have to contend with the slippery and tricky Washougal soil, and the long shadows cast by the towering spruce trees that dot the property. Add it all up and the stage is set for an exciting and grueling round of Pro Motocross!
