Jack Knight, stand-up comedian, writer and actor best known for his role in the animated series “Big Mouth” on Netflix, died Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 28 years old.
His family confirmed, on Saturday, his death in a statement that did not mention the cause of death.
Mr. Knight had recently finished filming as an actor in Film “First Time Director”, Written and directed by Chelsea Peretti.
Beginning in March, Mr. Knight starred with Chris Reed, Sam Jay and Langston Kerman in the Peacock series “Bust Down,” which he also helped create. He was also an executive producer on the HBO talk show “Pause with Sam Jay” and this year was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for his work on the show.
From 2017 to 21, he was a writer and producer on the popular sitcom “Big Mouth” and voiced the character of Devon. Mr. Knight worked as a writer on the ABC comedy “Black-ish” from 2019-20. It aired a 15-minute special on Netflix backup in 2018 as part of the series “The Comedy Lineup”.
Named the 2014 Comedy Central Comic to Watch, the 2015 New Face of Montreal’s Only Laugh Festival and LA Comic to watch by TimeOut in 2018.
It opened to several comedians, including Dave Chappelle, Joel McHale, Eric Andre, Moshe Kasher, and Hannibal Boris.
No details of his surviving relatives were immediately available.
As news of his death spread, a tribute to Mr. Knight surfaced on social media.
Comedian James Adumian He said on Twitter That whenever he performed with Mr. Knight, he knew it would be a “very funny night”.
He wrote: “He was a well-deserved win, all deserved so willingly, so witty and unforgettable every moment on and off stage.”
