The end of American democracy

A large portion of the American population no longer trusts elections. This is very serious.

Joe Biden said yesterday that American democracy can no longer be taken for granted. Already, Republicans are saying loud and clear, but without any evidence, that the midterm elections have been marred by fraud.

In the by-elections, there is no issue with the results of the Congress as many local body elections are held simultaneously across the country.

Republican strategists want to convince Democratic voters that their votes don’t count. Because the stakes have already been staked, or because election arbitrators are Republicans, they will refuse to verify results that benefit Democrats.

The first election maneuver was fair game. It is often used to prevent voters from voting on one side.

On the other hand, the second maneuver is undemocratic. All the candidates participating in the election must accept the results of the ballot boxes in advance. There is no indication of a particularly massive fraud.

Despite Republican allegations, it should be remembered that no large-scale fraud has been proven in the United States during past elections. At most a few cases have been reported. The same goes for the first early or remote vote in midterm elections.

Rational arguments had almost no hold on the parties to this new political culture. For them, the only thing that matters is victory, which means retaining power. Also, the Trumpist Republican Party has practically no electoral plan.

Democratic Responsibilities

Democrats are partly to blame for the Democratic slide because they have less to offer so-called independent voters. Democratic leaders are creating a gerontocracy that drives out many younger, quality candidates. The vigilante wing of the Democratic Party displeases the majority of Americans. Democratic talks on the economy are poorly received.

Democrats are guilty of not being able to field strong candidates against Trump and his gang.
