The Hazmons spent some serious time trying to add a receiver in the NFL trade deadline, but they probably had to look for a new quarterback.
What is likely to be remembered as One of the worst matches of his career, Aaron Rodgers had a crash Sunday with three interceptions during Green Bay’s stunning 15-9 loss to the Lions. It wasn’t necessarily shocking that he lost the packet, but it was shocking How They lost: They simply couldn’t score points while facing one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
Entering the ninth week, the Lions gave up averaging 32.1 points per game, which was the worst in the league at more than five points. If the Packers are going to fix their offensive problems against anyone, Lions look like a good candidate. However, it didn’t happen, and it didn’t happen because of Rodgers, who made several mistakes that were completely uncharacteristic of him.
Rodgers has thrown two of his three interceptions inside the red zone, marking the first time in his career that he has thrown multiple red-zone picks in the same game. Two were intercepted in the end zone, with Rodgers’ apparent foul. The first time, coming on the first and goal of Detroit’s 5-yard line, Rodgers threw the ball low and bounced off a defender’s helmet before it was caught by Kirby Joseph.
The selection of the next red zone came on the next possession. In a fourth and 1 goal for Detroit, the Packers had a perfect play called: offensive lineman David Bakhtiari was eligible to pass a pass and was wide open, but Rodgers threw it and Aidan Hutchinson came up with the pick.
This is usually what Rodgers could do in his sleep, but the 2022 edition of Rodgers was not accurate.
Then Rodgers hit the interception when he threw his third pick of the day in a low game in the third quarter.
There were also a few other throws where it looked like the Packers might be able to get a big play, but Rodgers just didn’t put enough on it.
Rodgers actually threw for 291 yards and landed, but he made a lot of mistakes, something he never did against his top-tier rivals. This game was the first time since 2013 that he had thrown multiple interceptions against a first-class opponent.
At 3-6, the Packers season isn’t over, but it’s hard to see them bounce back the way they did. They have now lost five games in a row and their season appears to be spiraling out of control.
