The Office co-star Angela Kinsey talks about objecting to certain character statements

Angela Kinsey felt some jokes about her Christian faith the desk They were wrong, and I talked about them, she said in a Recent podcasts.

Kinsey, who played Angela Martin on the show, spoke about her Christian faith with former co-star Rainn Wilson on the April 23 episode of his podcast. Boom soul.

Wilson, who played Dwight on the show, asked Kinsey about playing a “nervous Christian” when she grew up having a “very warm and meaningful relationship” with her faith and the church.

“Did this strike you in any way?” Asked.

Kinsey said there was a joke written about her character, and that she felt it pigeonholed Christians and didn't really reflect their views.

She cited one episode in season three, where her character was given a line that she felt was a “super judge” against Oscar, a gay character on the show.

Kinsey said she spoke to producer and director Greg Daniels about it.

“Yes, actually, there was a time or two where there would be a joke written for her that I thought was just really stereotypical, maybe one-note. I like to think of her as a whole, well-rounded person. I remember I remember there was a particular story between Angela and Oscar, where she Angela is a super judge I've never gone to Greg for a joke, but there was a joke at Oscar's expense, and I went to Greg [Daniels] And I was like, “I can't.”

Kinsey said the character invoked Jesus in the line and felt disturbed by that.

“I was like, 'I don't feel good about that.' I don't feel good about that. I don't feel like that's what Jesus is to me,” she told Daniels.

“And he was like, 'Okay.' He heard me and made the joke. And the episode, titled “Gay Witch Hunt,” had a lot going for it already. But that's the only pivotal moment I remember where I was like, okay, this sounds like a stereotype and one note. “I feel like it has more depth than that,” Kinsey said.
