Ryan Gosling is having second thoughts about his roles and their impact on his family

Ryan Gosling says having a family has changed his outlook on his acting career.

In an interview with Wall Street JournalThe 43-year-old actor spoke about being a father to his daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8, whom he shares with his longtime partner Eva Mendes.

Their needs cause him to avoid dark roles so that he will be in a better mental state when he returns home. “I don't really take roles that would put me in a dark place,” Gosling said.

“This moment is what I feel when I try to read the room at home and feel what will be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make with Eva, and we make them with our family in mind first.”

Gosling said this attitude adjustment is a new development for him.

“I suspect La la land “It was the first,” he said. “It was like this would be fun for them too, because even though they weren't at the shoot, we would practice the piano every day or dance or sing.”

Some stunts in his new movie Scapegoat, gave him pause. One stunt in particular called for him to step off the edge of his safety harness. “My body is turning to stone,” Gosling said.

“I think that happened when I had kids — in fact, you start to become more aware of everything you do and everything you've ever done and everything you would do if you had the chance to do it.”
