Hopes for the survival of Ibrahim Raisi are slim after the helicopter carrying Iran’s president crashed near the border with Azerbaijan, an Iranian representative told Reuters on Monday, as rescue teams found the plane’s wreckage.
The representative added that the helicopter was completely engulfed in flames and officials feared that all passengers, including Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amiraptolahian, had died.
The plane crashed on Sunday while flying over a mountainous area in dense fog.
