Hunter Biden Drops Lawsuit Against Fox News

Hunter Biden, the son of the US president, has dropped his complaint against Fox News Channel, which he sued over a series detailing his fictional interrogation, according to a court document.

The memo from Hunter Biden’s lawyers, dated Sunday, the day his father announced he was withdrawing his bid for the White House, gave no reason to explain the withdrawal of the complaint.

Fox News Channel declined to comment, recalling that it condemned the “legal action as purely politically motivated” and “without any basis”.

“The Trial of Hunter Biden,” a six-episode miniseries, will air in 2022 on Fox Nation, the streaming platform of the favorite channel of American conservatives owned by the Murdoch family media empire.

While envisioning Joe Biden’s son being prosecuted for international corruption, the program alerted viewers to the fictional nature of the investigation, with allegations leveled over the years by Trump supporters pointing to Hunter Biden’s past business ties to Ukraine and China. The allegations have not yet led to legal action.

The series used nude images of Hunter Biden during intimate relationships to “humiliate, harass (him), injure (him) and tarnish (his) reputation,” the complaint alleges.

These images are from a laptop that Hunter Biden dropped off at a computer repair shop, but he never recovered. While its content became the subject of widespread conspiracy theories, it spread.

Hunter Biden filed a complaint in early July for obscene exposure, unjust enrichment and moral damages.

Known for years of addiction to alcohol, cocaine and crack cocaine, the US president’s son was charged with illegal gun possession during a federal trial in June.
