A passenger boards a plane twice without a ticket

A reckless Norwegian passenger managed to board a flight from Munich, Germany, without a ticket for two days and fly to Stockholm a second time, local police said on Tuesday.

“Airport police have opened an investigation against a 39-year-old Norwegian national for disturbing public order and fraudulent traffic,” a spokesman told AFP.

The investigation should specifically explain “how passengers were able to bypass the automatic control of the boarding pass before security checks,” a Munich airport spokeswoman told AFP.

“We have already created awareness among the boarding access staff and are strengthening the staff,” this source added.

On August 4, despite ticket checks during boarding, a passenger standing too close to another passenger first slipped through without incident, according to the website of popular daily Bild.

He then boarded the plane with other passengers. His fraud was only noticed because the plane was full and Norwegian didn’t have a seat.

He was handed over to the police, who initiated proceedings against him but released him.

A day later, the man tried again and was able to board the plane again using the same model.

This time, the flight of the German company Lufthansa, which he succeeded in reaching Stockholm, was not full.

However, in Stockholm, he was arrested by the police after attracting attention because he wanted to return to Munich immediately.

The police spokesman added that the passenger “did not present any danger” and “had no intention of disrupting air traffic” according to the investigation.

Munich airport is not its first disappointment: in May, it was paralyzed as climate activists stuck their hands to the tarmac, causing dozens of flight cancellations.
