A New York lawyer has attacked Trump for ‘blocking’ his trial

The New York State Attorney General on Thursday sued former U.S. President Donald Trump for “blocking” his civil investigation, which has been underway since 2019, into possible fraud in the Trump group’s family group tax procedures.

Letitia James, a Democrat-elected lawyer who has been pursuing the former state president and Republican businessman for years, has wanted to hear from him for months. On February 17, he was able to order a New York judge order the millionaire and his children, Donald Jr. and Ivanka, to testify under oath.

The civil investigation against Trump was accelerated in January when Leticia James announced that he and his team had gathered “significant evidence” that “many assets were falsely and fraudulently valued” for economic gain.

The New York Attorney General suspects that the Trump system “fraudulently” overstated the value of real estate assets when applying for bank loans and underestimated the tax authorities to pay lower taxes.

The Trump family has accused Ms James of being a ‘political witch hunt’.

This contradiction is one of the many contradictions the former president has with the law.

He also faces criminal charges from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Brock: the Trump administration and its chief financial officer, Alan Weiselberg, have been charged with tax evasion. They have pleaded not guilty and the trial is set to begin this year.

But at the end of February this criminal investigation was disrupted: Mr. Two of Brock’s assistant attorneys resigned. One of them, Mark Bomarands, accused Donald Trump in his resignation letter of being “guilty” of “many crimes”, including financial fraud.
