The mother of a 10-year-old girl who had to leave Ohio to get an abortion after being raped by a 27-year-old man said Thursday that she is supporting her daughter’s rapist.

What he said in an interview with Mexican television Telemundo shocked many.
“Everything people say about a rapist is a lie,” he said.
Gerson Fuentes, the main suspect in the story, confessed to prosecutors twice that he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl after being arrested by police officers.
Fuentes, an irregular immigrant from Guatemala, is currently in jail and his bail is set at $2 million.

A 10-year-old girl finally had an abortion in neighboring Indiana, where the rules are currently less stringent than Ohio’s, which bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.
