The odds were against Orange Cassidy again at forbidden door On June 25th in Toronto. He was putting the AEW International Title on the line in 4Way, facing not only New Japan legend and Ring of Honor Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata, and New Japan Television Champion Zack Saber, Jr., but also fellow AEW roster member Daniel Garcia.
As you’d expect from this type of match, this was a fast-paced affair that gave each man a chance to shine – and we’ve got plenty of creative multiplayer locations.
It also cemented the story of Cassidy’s amazing reign. The champ got the chance to go head to head with each of his rivals, trade strikes with Shibata, hang out with ZSJ, and do some fun gymnastics with Garcia. The OC also sold the injuries he had throughout his “taking all comers” period.
He had to be smart to win his 25th defense. Shibata linked up with a PK on Garcia while Saber had the Jericho Appreciation Association member handcuffed. Cassidy raced across The Wrestler to the outside, picking up the pin.
The consequences sparked future rifts between the three champions in these matches.
