Elon Musk, as he often does, fired a few tweets on Monday. This time, he targeted the Russo-Ukrainian war – he asked via a Twitter poll if his followers agreed with a four-point peace plan to end the conflict.

    The Internet was not impressed.

Musk’s proposal sparked a firestorm on the Internet, attracting Ukrainian diplomats, Russian officials, fans of the billionaire businessman and even two presidents. It came on the same day the Russian parliament voted to formalize Moscow’s illegal annexation of four regions of Ukraine, following phased referendums in the regions last week.

Musk’s plan began with this proposal: “Rerun the elections of the annexed territories under the supervision of the United Nations. Russia leaves if that is the case.” [the] Will of the people “.

His second point? “Crimea is officially part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s fault).”

Here, Musk was repeating an eclectic version of the history of Crimea, one that aligns closely with the history of the Kremlin. He did not, of course, recognize the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which Russia agreed to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea. Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014.

His last two points called for Ukraine to remain “neutral” and “guarantee” the water supply of Crimea.

“It’s very likely that this will be the outcome in the end – just a matter of the number of dead before then,” Musk said of his plan.

At 5 p.m. ET, more than 1.6 million votes were cast in the Twitter poll, with 63.2 percent voting “no” and 36.8 percent voting “yes.”

    Peace between Ukraine and Russia:

Re-elections of the annexed areas under the supervision of the United Nations. Russia is leaving if this is the will of the people.

    – Crimea is officially part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s fault).

    – Securing the water supply to the Crimea.

    Ukraine remains neutral.

There have been some notable responses.

The official Twitter account of the Ukrainian Parliament repliedSimply, “No”. The Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andrei Melnik, has some choice words to touch.

“F-off is a very diplomatic response to you elonmusk,” he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky put up his own poll on Twitter: Which elonmusk do you like the most? There were two possible answers: “One supports Ukraine” and “The other supports Russia.” At five in the evening, the first won.

But even amid the harsh response, Musk doubled down.

“Let’s try this next: the will of the people who live in Donbass and Crimea should decide whether they are part of Russia or Ukraine,” he tweeted with a “yes” or “no” poll.

The official account of the Ukrainian news website Kyiv Post, Wrote From Musk’s original suggestion: “We don’t vote on apartheid and Nelson Mandela.”

Then the pro-Kremlin news channel RT Reposted Musk’s Peace Plan with Commentary “Elon Musk Proposes a Solution to the Conflict in Ukraine”.

“It’s a bad sign, Elon,” wrote the Kyiv Post, referring to the propaganda network’s tweet.

Musk played an interesting role in Ukraine’s war against Russia – in a distinctively unorthodox way. Shortly after the Russian invasion, Musk announced that Starlink Internet Satellite Stations – which helps people access the Internet via satellite – was sent to Ukraine. he is too a challenge Putin in a one-on-one fight. Musk did not respond to a request for comment.

Later on Monday, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stevanchuk announced, Suggestion His own plan on Telegram:

Russia withdraws from Ukraine and stops killing Ukrainian civilians.

Moscow is sold to China and disappears from the face of the earth as it has been since 1147 (until Yuri Dolgoruky’s fault)
