Fallout 4’s expanded remastered Fallout London looks to be nearing release after developer Team FOLON announced that “the end is in sight” as it awaits final quality assurance testing.

In a post on X/Twitter, the FOLON team sought to clear up the speculation by confirming that it has sent “several builds” to GOG, the Steam competitor owned by CD Projekt Red, and is awaiting “the final green light.”

“Once they complete the verification process that Fallout: London is working and installed on all supported devices, we should be ready to go,” the FOLON team said. “Yes, we have our own installer, and a downgrade program as well.

“It’s in all of our best interests that this final QA process is fully implemented, and we’re extremely grateful to GOG for their assistance. While it may not seem like a lot of work, we can assure you that department heads have been working tirelessly behind the scenes during this time to make the build process the best it can be. The end is near.”

Fallout: London was previously scheduled to arrive on April 23, 2024, but actual Fallout developer Bethesda announced a surprise update for Fallout 4, which the mod developer feared would impact its release.

“We’ve been working tirelessly on tweaks and testing to get things as stable as possible for everyone in time for this release,” said Dean Carter, FOLON project lead at the time. “But with the new update coming out just 48 hours later, our four years of work could simply fall apart.”

Carter later expressed regret that Bethesda, which had made it clear it was aware of Fallout: London, had failed to inform the FOLON team of its plans. “That did us a disservice, for lack of a better term,” Carter said.

Fallout London is one of the most popular mods in development and will let players explore a post-apocalyptic version of the English capital. Players will interact with everything from “arrogant parliamentary aristocrats to a reviving Knights of the Round Table to a relentless revolutionary cult.” The game will even star Neil Newbon, who played Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Bethesda’s head of development Todd Howard has confirmed that Fallout 5 will be released after Elder Scrolls 6, which is still years away, but continues to update the MMO Fallout 76.
