Google has announced a new feature for Gemini AI called Gems, which are pre-designated experts to help users with programming, training, creating content, brainstorming, and other tasks. Gems will be rolling out soon with pre-designated experts and the ability for users to create their own experts to handle specific tasks.
What are Gemini stones?
Gemini Gems are a feature of Google’s Gemini AI platform that are built for very specific tasks. Users can create their own custom AI experts by providing specific instructions that make the Gem an expert who can help in a very specific role.
Google has provided this clarification regarding Gems:
“In the coming days, Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers can start creating and chatting with Gems, the customized versions of Gemini that were first shown at I/O. You can customize your Gems to act as subject matter experts or optimize them for your specific goals. Simply write instructions for your Gem, give it a name, and chat with it whenever you want.”
How to Use Gems for SEO
I haven’t seen Gems yet but I’m wondering what would happen if I fed it Google’s quality ranking guidelines, SEO starter guide, and other documentation and then fired it at content to see if it could identify areas that could be improved and why.

It might be possible to create a gem that can take Screaming Frog’s crawl data, identify specific issues, and generate a structured report. For example, it can identify chained internal redirects, identify internal redirects caused by linking to the wrong page, and that internal 404 errors should always be fixed.
