Android 15 Beta 3 makes some tweaks to the screenshot preview UI, while revealing work on Pixel-exclusive generative AI stickers.

About APK Insight: In this APK Insight post, we break down the latest version of the app that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we unpack these files (called APK files, in the case of Android apps), we are able to see different lines of code within those that hint at potential future features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ship these features at all, and our explanation of what they are may be incomplete. We’ll try to enable those that are close to being finished, however, to show you what they’ll look like when they charge. With that in mind, read on.

The redesign sees the screenshot preview appear on top of a new pill-shaped container with circular share and markup buttons. This replaces the more compact side-by-side approach.

    Old vs. new

However, it’s not clear if this stacked look is the final design or if it’s a mistake. When copying text or images, it’s the old layout with the updated disk layout, while the new version looks a bit strange when there are only two actions. If this is intentional, Google may be upping the ante for screenshot previews.

Meanwhile, as of Beta 3, the screenshot UI uses a light background even when the system’s dark theme is enabled.

Speaking of Markup, Android 15 Beta 3 reveals the presence of a new “Creative Assistant” app/service exclusive to Pixel devices.

It will be integrated with a screenshot editing tool, and looks to let you create (“remix”) and apply stickers to images. Markup, which remains unchanged with this beta release, lets you crop, add text, draw, and highlight. Along with the screenshot preview, it’s integrated into the system’s share sheet, Google Photos and the Files app.

Because Creative Assistant requests AICore permission, labels may be created using an existing template on the device. This could be a fun expressive feature that provides a more well-rounded experience than generating Gemini images.

thanks for the Revised JEBwhich some APK Insight dismantling takes advantage of.
