In the video | Our collaborator in Paris jumped into the Seine for a swim

Like the mayor of Paris, TVA Nouvelles contributor Thomas Schnell in France jumped into the Seine on Wednesday to swim there, while the water quality is considered good enough to host competitive events.

At the end of his speech at the Salute Bonger, Thomas Schnell jumped with two feet into the river that crosses the French capital.

“The water is wonderful, it’s perfect,” Mr. Schnell responded by continuing his dive.

Like the mayor of Paris the day before, the journalist was able to swim in these waters without any problems, but there are still doubts as to whether the water quality can be maintained until the Olympic Games.

“If there is bad weather, nothing has been decided for these triathlon events in 15 days. From upstream of Paris, 400 kilometers of China are bordered by agricultural land, so if there is runoff from everything, the phytosanitary products will pollute the river,” explained the journalist. “This is what happened all winter.”

“It costs one billion and 400 million euros to modernize with valve systems and septic tanks, but it is still not fully functional,” he added. Studies have allowed Meyer to swim, but it’s still not fully optimized.
