Getting support from across the political spectrum means Mr. Trump and Mrs. Harris is a tactic used by both. Several Republicans, including Mesa, Ariz., Mayor John Giles, former Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham, spoke in support of Ms. Harris at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week.
In recent days, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently suspended his independent bid for president, and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, both considered fringe members of the Democratic Party before they left, have endorsed Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump campaign spokesman Brian Hughes said Mr Kennedy and Ms Gabbard had been included in the Trump-Vance transition team.
