CMF didn’t unveil its new CMF Phone 1 on Monday, but the phone went on sale earlier today. Now the company has happily announced that it has sold over 100,000 units in the first three hours of availability.
In a related context, the Nothing Phone (2a), which was launched last March, needed 24 hours to reach the same sales number, so we can say that the CMF Phone 1 is selling eight times faster.
To celebrate the occasion, Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, said:
Following the incredible success of the 2a in March, the CMF Phone 1 is set to disrupt a stagnant value segment that has seen more of the same in recent years and has often been overlooked. Leveraging Nothing’s innovation and strengths in design, the CMF Phone 1 offers something unique, fun, and practical, while still delivering a great user experience. Sales are never the end goal, but rather the result of making great products that users love – and we couldn’t be more grateful for the market reception and record first-day sales. We thank the Nothing community, partners, and investors for all the support so far, and look forward to continuing to make technology fun again!
The CMF Phone 1 hits the market with a unique set of simple features combined with a high degree of customizability – you can swap out the back cover, attach things like a seatbelt. That’s so far. In the future, the sky may be the limit, as Nothing recently released documentation that allows anyone to 3D print their own back cover.
