Authorities said he was arrested on multiple counts of fraud and theft.
Rapper Sean Kingston was arrested in California after a SWAT raid on his rented mansion in South Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Kingston, 34, whose real name is Kesan Anderson, was arrested “without incident” at Fort Irwin, California, on multiple counts of fraud and theft and will be booked into the San Bernadino prison, investigators said in a news release.
Earlier Thursday, its Miami ABC News affiliate said WPLG The rapper’s mother, Janice Turner, was reportedly arrested on fraud charges after a home was raided in Southwest Ranches, Florida.
Southwest Ranches is located about 22 miles southwest of Miami, Florida.
Robert Rosenblatt, the attorney representing the rapper and his mother, told WPLG, “We are aware of some of the allegations” against the two.
“We look forward to addressing these matters in court and are confident of reaching a successful resolution for Sean and his mother,” Rosenblatt said.
After Turner’s arrest, Kingston posted on Instagram, “People love negative energy! I’m good, and so is my mother! … My lawyers are dealing with everything as we speak.”
