Jeremy Wagner was the man who took the disturbing video of the malfunctioning carousel at Carowinds.
As riders approach one of the ride’s curves, the crack expands and contracts.
Wagner told CNN that she reported the crack to customer services at the amusement park before leaving the park. The man also says he contacted the Charlotte Fire Department.
After 10 minutes, firefighters called him back to tell him the ride was closed.
In an email to CNN, Carowinds said all rides are inspected daily and will remain closed until repairs are completed.
“Fury 325” is North America’s longest steel roller coaster, reaching speeds of 95 miles per hour, according to the Carowinds website.
