SEGA comments on the $80 price of the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection

when Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection The Switch was announced last month, some were surprised by the price point. Atlus — and parent company SEGA — charges $80 for the package. That’s quite a lot considering other similar packages don’t really go that far.
SEGA has now commented on the decision in an interview with IGN. The company drew attention to the amount of content included, saying that “players will be very excited about the first three games of the Remastered series.”
SEGA’s full statement on the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection price point is as follows:
Yes, the collection is available for purchase at $80. With this purchase, players will get over 30 hours of gameplay for Etrian Odyssey HD and over 50 hours for Etrian Odyssey II and III, plus free DLC image sets of popular characters from the Atlus IP Others upon pre-order. That’s quite a bit of content and gameplay that we think players will be very excited about with the first three games in the series re-mastered for Nintendo Switch and Steam.”
All games included in the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will be available individually on the eShop. However, this raises the price even more. Etrian Odyssey I, II, and III HD are set at $39.99 each.
Etrian Odyssey Origins collection for Switch launches on June 1, 2023.
