A 60-year-old man died after being bitten by a venomous snake in front of his helpless wife in Australia.
The New York Post reported that the tragedy occurred on Saturday at a private property located in the north of the country in Queensland. He bit the father of two’s hand. He was dead before paramedics arrived.
The species of the snake is yet to be confirmed following a toxicology report, but it is likely to be a brown snake, which has a highly venomous venom.
Michelle Friday, a neighbor of the man, told the Courier Mail that she had received several calls from relatives after the tragedy.
“Someone told me they could hear the girl screaming for help through the fence before the paramedics arrived,” he said.
According to him, the victim used to handle snakes as he had a python in the past.
Heather McMurray, an entrepreneur specializing in snake trapping, has also revealed that these reptiles are especially present at this time of year.
“The heat and humidity will definitely bring the snakes out,” he explained. Pythons like humidity and brown snakes like hot, dry days.”
