Solange Knowles looks chic in a double-breasted suit at the Fall 2022 New York City Couture… after she became the second black woman to record a ballet for the organization.
Solange Knowles was ready for action when she arrived at her Fall 2022 fashion gala in New York City on Wednesday night.
The 36-year-old musician and composer smiled proudly as she walked to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center while wearing an elegant double-breasted suit.
Solange was one of the guests of honor at the event, writing the music for the ceremony’s opening piece, making her the second black woman to compose for the New York City Ballet.

Solange looked effortlessly chic in her navy suit, which had a white pocket square handkerchief and built-in white sleeves that peaked, although she did appear to be topless under her jacket.
She paired an oversized jacket, which hung loosely over her embellished frame, with loose, nearly floor-to-the-floor blue pants.
Beyoncé Knowles’ sister kept the menswear theme alive with her boots, which had a black heel decorated to the front like black oxfords.
She accessorized her look with an intriguing black egg-shaped handbag, which has small metal buttons at the bottom to allow her to sit upright.

The “Don’t Touch My Hair” singer is the second black woman to compose for the New York City Ballet, after Lido Pimenta became first in 2021 with her composition “The Sky Holds,” according to a statement from the organization submitted to CBS.
Solange shared the news that her score was chosen for the party last month on social media.
The ballet will have multiple performances in October, followed by recurring performances in May 2023.
Gianna Raisen designs her music, who in 2017 became the youngest person—at 18—to choreograph the venerable ballet, according to playbill.
