the Utah JazzThe G League’s Salt Lake City Stars affiliate is hiring a former Market Sources told ESPN on Friday that Steve Wojciechowski has been named head coach.
Wojciechowski, who has been living in the Salt Lake City area since leaving Marquette in 2021, was eager to make the leap into professional coaching and now land a franchise packed with young players and three first-round picks in the 2023 NBA Draft.
He has spent some time directing the Jazz over the past two years, especially in the 2021-22 season due to his long-term relationship with former Jazz coach Quinn Snyder. Wojciechowski spent some time last season attending some jazz practices and building a relationship with coach Will Hardy.
Wojciechowski joins Snyder as one of several college coaches who made the transition to the NBA through the G League, where teaching and development is often critical to organizations over results in the standings.
In seven seasons at Marquette, Wojciechowski has a record of 128-95 (. 574) with two trips to the NCAA Tournament and one NIT appearance. After Marquette, he spent the summer as an assistant coach for the 2022 NBA AmeriCup team.
Wojciechowski was an All-American and National Defensive Player of the Year dukewhere he spent 15 seasons as an assistant under Hall of Fame head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
