After a two-year hiatus, the crown Ready to rule again.
Season 5 of Netflix’s Royal Family Biography Wednesday, November 9, announced Saturday’s broadcast of Netflix’s global fan event “Tudum”. The new season brings with it a change of guard, too: Imelda Staunton takes over as Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, with Jonathan Pryce taking over Tobias Menzies as Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip. Dominic West will play Prince Charles, while Elizabeth Debicki will play his estranged wife, Princess Diana. (We saw a short teaser with West and Debicki as Charles and Dee when news broke that the royal couple had officially separated.)
Netflix has also released a new season poster that hints at more conflict for the royal family, with an unmistakable crack appearing on the walls of Buckingham Palace. Check it out below:
the crown Last aired in November 2020, season four achieved a rare feat, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series alongside wins in all four major acting categories for Coleman, Menzies and Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher. The series is now also gaining new significance with the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II, who died earlier this month; Production in the sixth season of the crown Paused ‘out of respect’ to the king’s legacy.
