The exact cause of death of legendary singer Sinead O’Connor has been revealed on the anniversary of her tragic passing.
O’Connor was found “unconscious” in her flat in south-east London aged 56 in July last year.
Her death was officially recorded by her husband, John Reynolds, on Wednesday in Lambeth, London.
The Irish Independent reported that O’Connor’s death certificate confirms that she died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma.
The Irish music icon was also suffering from a respiratory infection at the time of her death.
The death certificate listed her cause of death as “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma with low-grade lower respiratory tract infection.”

In January, a spokesman for Southwark Coroners’ Court in London issued a statement confirming the cause of death of the Nothing Compares 2 U singer.
“This confirms that O’Connor died of natural causes,” the spokesman said.
After news of O’Connor’s death broke, London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed that her death was not being treated as suspicious.
“Police were called at 11.18am on Wednesday 26 July to reports of an unconscious woman at a residential address in SE24,” a police statement said.
Officers attended and a 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The victim’s next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for submission to the coroner.”
O’Connor’s final tweet included a photo of her with Sheen, accompanied by the message: “I’ve been living as an undead nocturnal being ever since. He was the love of my life and the light of my soul.”
“We were one soul split in two. He was the only one who loved me unconditionally.
“I’m lost in the Bardo without him.”
O’Connor had three other children, Jake, Roisin, and Joshua.
