The Nintendo Wii and DSi Shop channels have been down for several days

The Nintendo Wii and DSi Shop channels have been offline for several days, according to a report from Eurogamer. Both stores may be down for March 16 with no explanation from Nintendo.

Video from GameXplain Shows exactly what happens when you select a Wii Shop channel – you’ll see a blank white screen, followed by an error code (209601) indicates network problems. The channel is down both on the Wii itself, as well as on the Wii U, which is what GameXplain uses to access the Store. Meanwhile, DSi Store spits the error Code 290502which also indicates an inability to connect to the store due to seemingly non-existent internet issues.

Nintendo has stopped allowing players to make purchases on the DSi and Wii Shop channels in 2017 And the 2019, respectively. However, Nintendo still allows players to download previously purchased games from both stores (at least when they were still online). When Nintendo first announced the closure of the Wii Storewarned that players will be prevented from redeeming or transferring games purchased with the Wii System Transfer Tool at some point in the future, but did not specify a date.

This left some players wondering: Is it time Currently? It’s not clear if both stores are down for maintenance, or if they closed unexpectedly. the edge I contacted Nintendo with a request for comment but they were not immediately answered.
