On Monday, US President Joe Biden said it was “clear” that Russia was considering using chemical and biological weapons in Ukraine, warning that such a move would provoke a “tough” response from the West.

Biden said of Russian President Vladimir Putin, “he has his back against the wall,” pointing to Moscow’s recent accusations that the United States has chemical and biological weapons in Europe. “It simply came to our notice then. I guarantee it, ”he stressed during a meeting with US business leaders in Washington.

“They (the Russians) claim that Ukraine has chemical and biological weapons in Ukraine. This is a clear indication that he (Vladimir Putin) plans to use both types of weapons,” he continued.

The U.S. president has reiterated his warning earlier this month after Russian officials accused Ukraine of trying to cover up a alleged chemical weapons program backed by Washington.

“Now Russia has made its false accusations and China seems to accept this propaganda. We must monitor Russia’s use of chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine,” White House spokeswoman Zhen warned. PSAKI on Twitter.

Joe Biden reiterated on Monday that the use of such weapons would expose Moscow to the “severe” retaliation of Western powers, without mentioning their nature.

Vladimir Putin warned that “NATO is aware of the dire consequences of a united front.”

He also warned his Russian envoy that strong US retaliation would be forthcoming if cyber-attacks were carried out against key US infrastructure. Biden promised.

“We talked at length about the consequences of his involvement in cyber-attacks,” the US president told a summit with his Russian counterpart in Geneva last year.
