“I don’t know if he is the most reliable candidate, but he certainly has the best chances compared to others,” said Guillaume Lavoie, associate member of the Raoul-Tandurand presidency.

According to expert polls of voting intentions, Trump has come in at 40 to 50% and DeSantis at 18 to 22%.

“He’s relatively young compared to other opponents. He’s 44, he graduated from Yale and Harvard. He entered the Army. Later, he married a popular news anchor in Florida. He became a congressman and has since founded the far-right Republican Freedom Caucus. In an unlikely race, He won the Republican nomination with Trump’s major endorsement to run for governor. He won by a hair. He won re-election by a bumper margin as Republicans lost everywhere. He is truly a rising star. Since he came to power, we can qualify Trump’s reign, drama or no drama. ” explains an expert on American politics.

How will the Trump camp react to DeSantis’ candidacy announcement?

“Trump is very upset because he is proud that DeSantis was elected governor. (…) Previously, he was one of Trump’s best friends in his campaign. (…) For the Trump camp, there is almost an element of betrayal. (…) that the attacks will be very difficult. I imagine”, Mr. Lavoie predicted.
